Radoil’s Full Time Fairings are designed to reduce the forces caused by the water currents against any riser and are most beneficial in the upper 1,000 ft. of water column where the forces are the strongest. Full Time Fairings can be installed or retrieved at any time because they are installed around the riser and not attached to the riser. The fairings are installed using an independent winch and chain system so they do not take rig-time to run and they are easily stored below the moon pool deck eliminating the need to use valuable deck space for storage. When used on a drilling riser they can be installed during deployment or after the riser is in place and can be left in the water to assist in riser recovery until the last 1,000 ft. of riser is being recovered. They can also be used after drilling is completed on each Steel Cantenary Riser (SCR) system to reduce the wave and current forces against the structure and mooring system. They can also reduce the effects of the repetitive stress forces caused by the currents on the well risers, flow-lines and sales pipeline stress joints or flex joints. The Full Time Fairings are obviously designed to stay in the water Full Time but can be easily retrieved and re-run at any time.
