RADOIL ROV TOOLING

  PIPELINE SPEAR

The pipeline spear was designed to recover the cut end of a steel pipeline from the ocean floor.  It is guided into the end of the pipeline by an ROV, and then the ROV actuates the slips by moving the u-shaped handle down.

At that time a cable attached to the padeye on the rear (left hand side of the picture) recovers the pipeline.  Units can be made in any size to fit your pipeline.

Design Features:

  • Ability for an ROV to remotely engage into the end of a pipeline

  • ROV capability to move the operating handle down to allow the slips to set

  • Protective case to prevent premature release of the slips

  • ROV capability to lift the operating handle to release the slips

Integration of a sealing element into the nose portion to allow the end of the pipeline being recovered to be sealed
